(no More) Standing in the Shadows-poem

Trent Shelton

Standing in the Shadows

By Jacquelyn Hughes Mooney©13

There will be no standing in the shadows…

I/my/we…

Will not/won’t not/have not be not

Now matter how tempting, how enticing it may appear in the shade

Casted by somebody else’s shadow.

The flood lights will shine brilliantly

‘Cause this chicka chickiedee bebe said to me.

“This is your awakening…

Smooth your way out of the way of your self”

Or as Trent would say “Stitch your wings back on & fly”!

So your prodigious fabulousness will fire up to the never…

Ever…

Whatever…

(I’ll still be loving you) *

Pulsate, shimmer & shine…

Simmering in a refined

Going to the next line

Of His Grace in a powerful race.

So the chickie, chickie bebe said.

I’ll not stand in the shadows of others’ incomplete dreams

Or incoherent screams

That masquerade as laughter but really is a scheme…

They’ve done all they could to hold you in the shadows of what they’ve deemed

Your place, not your grace.

This moon will prance & romance among the stars, gas & dust …

In a distinguish assembly of love supreme…

Winking & nodding as she stands proudly on a cloud

Orchestrating what it can be

Of what it will be.

She said” I don’t want to be shaded by someone else’s’ shadow

Of incomplete dreams or fearful schemes”

She/They/We know that while it appears ferocious

And the world is atrocious

Or pain’s shadow blinds so one may think they cannot breathe.

You can.

“Breathe now child, Breathe

So the chicka chickie bebe said.

Look in right direction for His protection

An invitation that does not require an RSVP.

There will be no standing n the shadows undercover in someone else’s fear

And unnatural clauses that will make you pause…

From making a way even out of no way…

To His Way, to the truth & the light

So the Chicka, chickie bebe said.

(I’ll be loving you always)*

Oh Happy Feet~ Isaiah's Story...

Mr. Isaiah & his happy feet post performance of "Eye of the Tiger with his 3rd grade class annual talent show!
All rights ReservedJHM©10

Whenever you get a moment to reflect how many times you put a body part down onyourself (or someone else) when you think its not good enough, needs repair, refurbihing, ignored or punished, I hope you will re-read my 9 year old soft spoken sensitive soul of my grandson Isaiah.

While some made feel he is too wimpy or "soft" or he is not displaying all the bravado that a 9 year old "should", Isaiah has already learned something about himself that many adults have not grasp.

His teacher had his 3rd grade class write a story about what body part makes them happy or their best part. Isaiah chose to write about his feet, the most milinged apparatus we seem to treat the worst but carries us everywhere.

He's learned to see through his beautiful tiger's eye which people often admire him for to accpet another part that while through the distorted lens of the world would seem defective, to say it is his best body part.

So whenever you chance to open your mouth to put yourself down, remember Isaiah's words.

Better yet, let him tell you in his own words.

Introducing Isaiah:

My Feet

My best part of me is my feet. My feet help me run fast & helps me to stand up, walk & move. My feet are my very best part in the world. My feet are very helpful in all. My feet are so helpful when we play with each other all day long. I like my feet so much we go outside. Feet are really good to have because how are you going to move (without them).

The End of a Road;Begin Anew...

In 6 days I will be boarding the train heading home to New Orleans & am I excited! I had to reflect to day that I am also coming to the end of another road with few regrets and with some appreciation.

In my "sabbatical" as I call it this last year I've learned a lot of things about myself. And despite some of the trials, it was indeed a good thing so I have few regrets.

In 6 days I will be boarding the train heading home to New Orleans & am I ready to rock & roll getting the creative juices to flow!

I've learn not to take myself or others so seriously and to be serious about what is necessary.

One thing I learned is to be still.

Another is the world will not fall apart if I am not rushing pell mell . I can indeed (and did) take some of the stress off myself.

I had lots and lots of time to think, renew & enjoy my own company.

I created a garden; took up photography...

I created a new paradigm.

I got to see my grandchild born, spend time, albeit very little, with my son & saw pine trees w daisies at the ocean.

And while unfortunately I watch my health deteriorate some, I also have gain some skills and tools to renew that too. We need health care so badly for all.

I relinquished a few friendships that were not quite as friendly & gain a few new allies.

I watch deer in my yard, had a yellow tabby & a grey Himalayan cats visit me on a regular basis.

I saw lovely butterflies, humming birds and wild turkeys.

I learn not to take myself or others so seriously and to be serious about what is necessary.
And I embrace two people who had faith in my ability to renew & fly!

So I say I have few regrets, many struggles but I made it. I might not have known all of this if I had not taken that leap of faith and moved across country.

As a friend said to me "One thing is for sure: when you leap off a cliff you will do one or two things; You will hit something solid or you will learn to fly"

Well guess what Karen, I managed to do both!

How cool is that!

You Lift Me Up...

When things go wrong don't go with them.~ Elvis Presley, rock & roll icon

Lifting yourself up and continuing forward

Healthy Reflections http://www.sparkspeople.com/

Does it ever feel like trouble follows you around and won't cut you any slack? Sometimes it feels like you can't buy a break and everything you try just makes things worse. Who could blame you for feeling sorry for yourself or not forgive a little self-destructive behavior? Bad idea. The new, healthy way to spend down times is to lift yourself up and operate at a higher level. Remember that what happens to you is not who you are. It's history. It's past. Your true self takes that history and decides how to make the best possible future out of it. You have the power to keep your attitude and values from driving into the ditch along with the events in your life. From defeat, you can still emerge victorious.

I Hear a Symphony 4-17-08 Fit Matters

“The woman who wants to lead the orchestra must turn her back on the crowd”.James Crook

Everyone wants praise and attention for a job well done; receiving recognition is euphoria and plain old feels good. But it is not with a lot of hard work. When we hear of people who are an “overnight” success we sing their praises. Then wonder how or why I can’t do the same. We don’t realize that what seems overnight, really was years of hard work, sacrifice and determination.

But to do those things one also needs to have vision and clarity to see the realization that vision means lots of work. You have to believe even when you think about not believing. It helps to have a sense of humor, not sweat the small stuff and pay attention to your language how you speak of yourself, to yourself and to others even in humor which oftentimes is masking hurtful things with a little sweetness. In a wellness journey, so much attention is given toward what we are not doing right rather then what we are. Be still and listen to the things we berate ourselves with when we have an “oopsy”. So you went over your caloric intake by 250 calories. Ok…But does the “punishment” need to fit the “crime”? Is it necessary to even punish yourself? When did having a donut become a crime?

Why do you need someone to kick your hiney or beat up on you so you can be impelled to do something about your weight? First of all kicking your own derriere’ hurts (if it was anatomically possible) and someone else beating up on you is an assault! Shame or blame will not bring change!

If it was successful we would not have a near pandemic explosion of obesity to begin with. So why not be your own leader, remembering that you are the one conducting this orchestra and to do so means you just may have to turn your back on the crowd. The crowd being the one telling you what you cannot do rather then cheering you for what you can. Of telling you that wellness is a size 00 & until you look like a poster child for famine relief you are not an acceptable human being. Let your body aid you in what fits well. You take the lead and are in charge of this extraordinary reinvention of your life. See what it is that you want that’s in front, not what wasn’t that’s behind (you).

I read recently this here on
www.SparksPeople.com : “Recognition is good, but you lead…pay attention to the group in front of you, not the ones watching behind you. Spectators will soon forget about you, but those you led will remember” It may not be easy, but it can be done and will be because it is you who will orchestrate this time.

You are the one conducting this symphony.

How cool is that!
