Hark! Where Goeth Thou?

1501 Canal Street. The historic Texaco building now the 1501 Canal Senior Apts & home of the pop up gallery Galerie 1501.

Folks have been asking me where is my art in Seasoned en Vieux.

Look around, better yet, come on down and you'll see me everywhere. My joy being the curator is seen in the 29 artists.  I will have a small piece or too maybe before the closing celebration on January 10th.

This whole venue was done out of love and was borne so my neighbors and the Treme/Canal Street community could have something to look at in this space while we await the future home of Dunkin Donuts.  When the idea that popped up in my head now 4 weeks ago, how little did I know that Galerie 1501 would emerge.

With limited time and resoures but a whole lot of heart here we glowed. Anything done with heart and love will have a good effect.

I always warn people that the faster I speak, my mind is flowing faster when on a creative roll.  We've gotten so much positive feedback on Canal Street! And you can, at least I have plus others who have experience it first hand, see the rhythms change in this so called "dead zone".

Artists have an innate sense of creating a happening where they are just simply by being.  Pedastrians who I've watched over the last several months since the 1501 Canal Senior Apts opened now are slowing down, to look.  We've seen many doing double takes.  We have visitors from many places come in to see.

Even some whom have never been in a gallery before have cruised through.

Can I Hear Your poem Today?

By Jacquelyn Hughes Mooney ©07

Can I hear your poem today?

All the prepositions, synonym, antonyms…

And the confunctions at the junction.
Words…

Words

And words whose lips met and ah, a metaphor was caught up in the sigh!

I want to hear your poem today.

That provokes and prevents…

To pierce and stay, parade and swing and rapidly escalate my heart.

You who conjugate all the nouns, pronouns, adjectives and adverbs

That congregated and held a caucus at the Washington mall.

Can I hear your poem today?

Blowing rhymes that chimes…

The ones that encourage…

And the ones that discourages you from hurting just one more day.

Let me, this Big City Woman demonstrate and not regulate….

What your muse does to me.

Nothing taste as good as these words…

And words…

And words…

And words that feel so good on my skin.

Can I hear your poem today?

So I can feel alive and all others can stride

I want to hear your poem today.

May I?
Can I? May I?

Can I?

May I persuade you to say your poem t me, so I can sway?

I don’t want to trip over the words from your lips.

Can I hear your poem today?

I want to skim some of the morning mist’s lift off your words.

To embellish and enhance me

Words are the voice of my heart…

Can I hear your poem today?

Go with it;Flow with it...JHM©11

"I want to be lean and clean for the future, dust off my wings. I know for sure that doing so will make it easier to fly."~  Oprah

"Stash's Sunset" photography by JHM©08

I am just in a good place right now and I am simply going to enjoy it...Circumstances around me have not altered to any great degree.  I'm just very happy.

Happy is as happy does and what I am going to do is flow with it, go with it.   I don't have to work to prolong it, simply enjoy the feeling.

I have sunlight streaming through all my front windows, listening to my favorite show CBS' Sunday Morning, preparing to read my Sunday paper and have a healthy breakfast.

I joined several groups recently who have similar interests.  Maybe it is the shared interests that suits my sensibilities that is contributing to my feeling of continual happiness, I don't know.

I am simply going to go with it; flow with it.

Maybe it was going through some of my photography and remembering the pleasure in shooting them helped.

Don't matter;I am simply going to enjoy it.

Could have been my finishing up a project that I've procrastinated for weeks, sticking with it and knowing it is done and I don't have to do it again contributed...

Don't matter; I'm going to enjoy it anyway.

Or it could have been dreaming about decorating a new loft space with wonderful floor to ceiling windows in a new space, relishing the challenge of shaping it into what will work for me now, where I am now having said to myself it is just doggone fine to now format my space for who I am today.  Feeling my adventuresome self, seeing the world with childlike wonder and old school experience could be fueling this.

Don't matter; I am going to go with it;flow with it...

Or is it seeing images of veggies and flowers who have long since returned back to the soil to replenish and re nourish?

"Arty-chokey" phtographyJHM©08

Or seeing a picture of my eldest daughter with 2 of my grandbabies (her niece & nephew) sound asleep. She was on her off day from work and helping her sister out so she could get to work.  It makes me feel good that my children do indeed have a sense of community.

Or the trust my grandbaby, Tassandra age 11months,secured in sleep that all is right in the world, even if the world is not acting right, that Mom & Dad, Auntie and Grammy will make it alright with all they got.

And big brother Tevin almost 3yrs can camp for the camera:

Maybe it contributes. Don't matter; I am just going to go with it; flow with it

Could it be possible that shutting down a situation that was an exercise in futility; of releasing someone to go where they need to go as long as it is not near me be a contributing factor?

Don't matter,I am simply going to go with it; flow with it.

I had been so stagnant in trying to get the mojo working keeping it going which is almost near impossible to do with so many things working in opposition to what was need.  I had thrown my hands in the air as I could not push what was not there.  For those who can, more power to you!  I applaud that ability; it is  a skill I do not have or acquire and don't see the likelihood that I will.
I've always known in the later years of my life that there is always a way out of no way if as my good friend would say "if I could smooth myself out of the way".  I am what I am, a work in progress & as I figure it out, things get done.

And done well, I do tell...
Has this acquired knowledge contributed to feeling happy?

I am simply going to go with it; flow with it.

For Real... For True

Among folks I know, when someone is in agreement with you they may sometimes say "for real"? or "for true"? looking for confirmation that  what you say is for real or for true.

I strive toward being as for real as real can be; to be as genuine as I know how to be & what I don't know, I learn.  One day I have learn these 60 years is that there is more to learn & that while I often learning the lesson, sometime the "get it"  may lag.  Or if I got the point, I may not necessarily agree with it thus search for ways to make it  "mo betta'".

And many times the old way is not bad, I'm just grown on or steered somewhere else & the old paradigm just is not getting it for (me) for the moment.

One of the reaching for me is like many of you a healthier life, a more prosperous one (not necessarily money, although that wouldn't be half bad), not weighed down literally & figuratively. That shifting cause movement in other areas at sometimes totally unexpected... How one chooses to work with it, well, can become work.

But the work can be joyous, at times troubling, at times it could be "what in the Sam Hill am I doing"?  Work isn't always a burden, it can take effort, monumental effort and other times flow as smooth as silk, as fine as wine.

What I can say, in the meantime as I figure out what's going on (or maybe not), I will anticipate with bated breath & open arms whatever comes on down the road...

I stumbled upon this poem that I forgot I had written 2 years ago...

To Be Rea
By Jacquelyn Hughes Mooney 09©

What will be left, if we do not see
A necessity
To put our faces real
In a world who thus far
Leans away
With feet of clay
(all will say)
Tell tale, varnished lies,
That we sell ourselves
We knew all along
What we’ve been doing is wrong
And all along
We know it does not work
But we continue to reel
In the stress & strife
With perverted delight
And call it life
Although its all a sham
Yes m’aam
Foolishly chasing
(man oh man)
A scripted, faux reality
And we kneel
To something that is not real
All the time resisting
The Source of all life
We can carry on … do less
Or give rise to our best
To be real
For it is the deal
